So what is a quip? As you can see, the definition can vary widely. I personally enjoy definition three and five. They are precise and yet give you no further insight into the meaning of the word. Most people hate such definitions but I enjoy them. It frees your mind to imagine the possibilities of a word, not just the limits. I like definition 1 as well, but that’s because I take it as a compliment.
